I got my campaign plan from Headline yesterday and was so overwhelmed by what their marketing department has managed to put together for the paperback of IoD, I spat coffee all over my current crop of notes for Book 3.
Before I got a book deal I spent my time wandering around bookshops thinking, ‘there are so many books, there must be room for me here somewhere…’, once I got the deal I wandered around bookshops thinking, ‘there are so many books, how on earth is mine ever going to get any notice…’ Well, stuff like the above is certainly going to help. Ned and I headed up to the WHSmith at Surrey Quays after lunch today, and I snaffled the above pic, torn between wanting to jump up and down shouting ‘I wrote that!’, and wanting to hide. I just stood about looking sheepish. Normal tactic. I am very, very lucky, but feel a bit rabbit in the headlights though.
Now I just hope to god people buy it. Then like it. Then write a rave review on Amazon. Then buy the next one.
