Lots of very kind ‘wohoo’ messages on facebook today as people see IoD on the shelves, and the picture (see below), of the Times display I stuck on my wall. Nice friends. The Times displays are only going to last a few days, so I went up to Liverpool Street today with Ned to stare at them there. There are three WHSmiths in the station so it was a heavy hit of gibbering excitement out of one bus fare.
I got the balls together to speak to one of the sales assistants, (she wasn’t with a customer).
Me (gesturing over my shoulder at display): I hope that’s selling well. It’s my book!
She: Oh yes! That’s selling very well today.
Me: (Victory dance)
She: (Looks a bit confused)
Me: I wrote it, you see.
She: What… You’re Stieg Larsson?
Ok, ok there was a display of Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest on the other side of the Times display. She was still nice to me when I explained I wasn’t SL. Hey ho.
