- Denial – “I’m sorry. You’ve missed the point and your comment is just wrong”
- Anger – “You’re an idiot. Who cares what you think, you have stupid shoes.”
- Bargaining – “Didn’t you like the bit with the puppy?”
- Depression – “I suck as a writer and am never going to be any good. I give up.”
- Acceptance – “OK. You have a point. I shall have a think about that.”
We all run through these whenever our work is criticised. The trick is to keep 1 -4 in your head.
