14th April is the official publication date of the third Westerman / Crowther mystery. We actually had our party for it last week which lead to a very late night and a nasty hangover. As has become traditional we had the party at Goldsboro books at their new shop in Cecil Court, and as is also traditional the venue was full of old friends, and I didn’t feel I had a chance to talk properly to any of them. One I did get a chance to say hello to was my old A-level English teacher. He taught both of my elder brothers too. I was delighted he could come along and he looks exactly the same as he did 20 years ago.
When I was doing my A-level I did a rather good essay on Hamlet for one of his colleagues. The only problem was I had spelled Hamlet wrongly throughout. The colleague handed it to him and he apparently glanced at it, sighed deeply, and said ‘it’s a Robertson, isn’t it?’
